Used to play there as a child. At one stage it had the remains of a tiny stone wall on the left hand side of the Lios. Their was also a smaller Lios ( must’ve been used as an animal pen) about 50-60yards below it in the same field…happy memories.

hi Eoghain
many thanks for your comments; children of another generation play there now, except with the clean-up carried out by the DUN AN OIR residents, it has plenty of open space and less hideaways; Tidy Towns erected signage at the entrance to the housing estate.

Hi Sootash,
The place has very happy memories for me. Glad children play in it now. Prob safer than it was when we were kids but the dense growth was so much fun. We had our Halloween bonfires in the field where they estate is now, right next to the lions…it being Halloween we dared each other to go in. I even kissed my first girl in there…yes very happy memories. I am so glad it is preserved. Greetings from Boston and thinking of home and a childhood long ago 🙂

hi Eoghain,
many thanks for your contribution; when the ringfort/fairy fort was being cleaned a few years back, many of the residents would not have entered the site; a fear still existed and bad luck (from the fairies) would follow; however it’s a different site today; and although I haven’t been there for a while, I hope that it is still well looked after, and that the signage is still in good condition. that’s another place to revisit!

Hi Sootash. I visited there this Christmas and the good news is that some of the trees that were left after it was cleared have re-grown. The fort is recovering some of it’s old character. It’s still in good condition and very safe but it has got back some of it’s cover now. Perhaps the Sidhe are being persuaded to return 🙂
